Program Description

Start your path in Bristol's Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration (HVAC/R) and Heat Pump Training Program. HVAC/R and Heat Pump is a growing field with opportunities in clean energy and skilled trades.

This Free 17-week hybrid HVAC training program combines hands-on learning with real HVAC tools and equipment, interactive simulations, lectures, and group discussions to build both technical skills and industry knowledge.

This training prepares participants for immediate employment with a local HVAC company gaining valuable paid on the job training. 

Program Highlights

  • 275 Hours of Industry Training (Hybrid Schedule)
  • Face to Face:
    • Tues–Thurs from 3:30 PM–6:30 PM
    • Sat from 9:00 AM–12:00 PM
    • Hybrid online work will vary each week
    • Receive up to $1,000 gift card stipend when milestones are achieved
    • Loaner Laptops
    • Tool Kit and Tool Bag
    • Gift card to purchase work attire and boots
    • Paid On-the-Job Training & Job Placement
    • Wrap-Around Student Support Services
    • Industry Certifications: OSHA-10 Certification, EPA 608 Certification, NATE HVAC Ready-to-Work credential

Program Requirements

By completing the program interest form, it allows the Bristol team to contact you with next steps to register if applicants meets the requirements of the program below.

  • at least 18 years old 
  • a resident of Massachusetts
  • have a United States issued high school diploma or high school equivalency (GED or HiSet)
  • have a MA issued valid driver's license or MA issued Photo ID
  • be authorized to work in the US
  • complete and pass a CORI/SORI background check
  • be fully committed to completing all classes
  • the ability to lift over 20 lbs.
  • be ready to work directly after program completion.

Classes schedule:

  • January 2026 to May 2026 more details to follow

Career Pathways:

After completing the program, you’ll be prepared for entry-level positions such as:

  • HVAC Installer or Technician
  • Refrigeration Mechanic
  • Building Maintenance Specialist
  • Energy Efficiency & Clean Energy Technician
  • Service or Repair Apprentice

These careers offer strong wages, job stability, and opportunities for advancement in both residential and commercial settings.

This grant funded HVAC/R and Heat Pump Training program is designed and delivered to meet industry demand in the growing need for a clean energy workforce. This program is developed through a partnership between Bristol Community College, Diman Vocational Technical High School, area HVAC companies and funded by Massachusetts Clean Energy (MassCEC).
